Our Purpose

When you are trying to learn what a company does, the answer is usually pretty obvious.  (We build software.)

Most of the time it’s almost as easy to figure out how they do it.  (We build trust.)

Unfortunately, though, much of the time it’s a challenge to understand why a company exists.  The natural answer is to think that the company is operating with the purpose of making a profit, but we’d argue that “making profits” could just as easily be the answer to “what do you do?” as it is to “why do you do it?”  Don’t misunderstand.  We have every intention of making a profit and being able to enjoy life, but that is not why Capewood Place exists.

Our purpose is not to make a profit.

If you were to ask us why we formed Capewood Place, without hesitation, the answer would be, “So we would be able to help others.”  We (Kelly and Scott Isaacs) have consistently given to organizations that we care about, since before we were married.  Now, we are extending that practice to our company.  Capewood Place exists so that we can help those that cannot help themselves.

We are pledging to donate at least 3% of every dollar we receive to feed hungry children in the San Diego area.

One in five kids in the San Diego area live with food insecurity — they don’t always know where their next meal will come from. We want to do our part to make sure they have the food they need, so they can do well in school and rise above the cycle of poverty.

So we have partnered with the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank.  We are honored to be able to give to their Food 4 Kids Backpack Program, which provides backpacks of nutritious, kid-friendly food to elementary school children who would otherwise go hungry over the weekend.

We are extremely excited that we will have a part in providing potentially tens of thousands of meals each year to hungry kids.  In fact, we’re so excited that we want to encourage our customers to do the same.  So in addition to the 3% we will be giving automatically, we will match any new donations our customers make up to an additional 2% of their invoice amount, for a total of up to 5% of every dollar we receive.

Kids who eat regularly are healthier.  Healthier kids tend to do better in school.  Kids that do better in school are more likely to have a brighter future.  Our tagline at Capewood Place is, “We build trust.  We build software.”  Perhaps we should add, “We build futures.”
